Beer 005 - Blue Moon Draft

July 23, 2010
Blue Moon draught at Chili's on FM1960 in Willowcreek mall area, Houston TX while waiting for Patri to eat sushi with girlfriends. Ate a Shiner Bock BBQ Burger with the beer. The beer is brewed by Molson Coors in Golden, CO who class it as a Belgian Style Wheat Ale. It is unfiltered, which gives it the cloudy appearance and has white wheat as one of it's grains. It is flavored with coriander and orange peel which makes it easier to understand why it was served with a wedge of orange.
The beer was served in a frozen mug so I had to wait a short while for the taste to emerge from the cold.
This is one of those beers that appear to have been brewed to widen the appeal of beer and make the brew more appealing to women.  It has a taste that is easy to drink, easy on the palate and does not offend anyone, it is inoffensive and easy to drink and undoubtedly drinks better with food. I think the BBQ hamburger killed the potential for the beer on this occasion.  It would have been better to have drank this beer with lighter flavor foods such as chicken, seafood or pork chops.

Beer Advocate (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/306/1212) has 1,430 reviews for the beer with an average of B- and Rate Beer (http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/blue-moon-belgian-white-ale/2228/) reviewers are a little less kind giving the beer an average of 47 overall and 53 in its style of Belgian White
