Beer 004 - Singha Beer

July 22, 2010
Singha Beer is brewed at The Boon Rawd Brewery in Thailand, the first Thai brewery.  This bottle was bought and drunk at the PadThai restaurant on Louisiana Street, Theater District, Houston, TX before Patricia and I went to the Hobby Center fot TUTS.
I have fond memories of drinking copious quantities of Singha beer when I worked in Bangkok and Pattaya (a long time ago) setting up a warehouse and distribution facility and later when I revisited Bangkok while attending a trade fair in Kuala Lumpur.
It is a lager, golden color with slight head. Nicely balanced but uninspiring. About the same as many other imported bottled beers that are pleasant enough to drink, but it did go well with the spicy Thai food I ordered.

Beer Advocate (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/367/976) has 400 reviews for this beer and the reviews are generally underwhelming with an average of C.  Rate Beer  (http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/singha/1092/) is less kind, their 1,000 reviewers gave it an average score of 11/100 overall and 17/100 in its style.
