Beer 247 - Rahr Iron Thistle (3.0 stars out of 5)

This is a pet peeve, but it bothers me a lot when a brewery does not say it's beer is brewed and bottled by the brewery.  I've read every word on this bottle of Rahr's Iron Thistle and nowhere can I find that the beer was brewed and bottled at the brewery in Fort Worth, TX.  The bottle says "your award winning Texas brewery" and "Rahr and Sons Brewing, Fort Worth, TX" and the web site certainly seems legitimate, but still there is a doubt.  Is this actually brewed and bottled in Fort Worth or is it like Lone Star beer...?
The beer itself came from my friend and colleague at work, Rusty, who knows my penchant for trying different beers and offered this as an addition to the collection.  It was drunk at home in Katy while preparing stuffed red peppers for dinner for Patricia and I.

the web site: http://rahrbrewing.com/our-beers/seasonal-beers/iron-thistle.html

the web site says " Break out the bagpipes with your lederhosen! We’re proud to present our Iron Thistle Scotch Ale – Rahr’s first National Grand Champion winner. This dark, Scottish ale has a bold taste dominated by a smooth, sweet maltiness balanced with a low, hoppy bitterness. So don your kilts and enjoy. Here’s to your health – Slàinte! Prosit! 8.0% ABV. Food Pairings: According to a well-respected expert, Iron Thistle pairs really well with grilled or steamed vegetables because “they won’t have to scream to be heard.” Since we find screaming vegetables unappetizing, we think this is a perfect pairing. Cheese Pairings: Brie, Aged Gouda"

I found the beer to have a little too much caramel/chocolate taste for me.  The beer was enjoyable and pleasant but each sip had to get past the caramel taste to be enjoyable.  The aftertaste was excellent and the feelings engendered by the high alcohol were very pleasant.
