Beer 246 - Great Lakes Brewing Burning River (2.5 stars out of 5)

Brewed and bottled by the Great lakes Brewing Co, Cleveland, OH.  Bought at the Great Lakes Brewing Co restaurant in terminal C at Cleveland airport on my way home from Hartford, in a six pack of seasonal beers, and drunk at home in Katy, TX after Patricia and I attended the regular monthly dinner and presentation at the Project Management Institute.

The web site: http://www.greatlakesbrewing.com/beer/an-exceptional-family-of-beers/year-round/burning-river-pale-ale

the web site says "Name Origin: This American Pale Ale garners its fair share of attention around the world—just as the Cuyahoga River did when it suddenly caught fire in 1969 and spurred the introduction of the Clean Water Act of 1972.
Style Origin: Pale ales gradually evolved from an English town called Burton-upon-Trent that was known for its distinctive hard water supply and propensity to brew a lighter-colored beer than was common at the time.
Flavor: Assertively hopped with citrusy and piney Cascade hops.6.0% ABV"

A bitter beer with a not altogether pleasant aftertaste that stays long after the beer has been swallowed.  The strong bitterness is not complemented by maltiness or citrusy flavors.
