Beer 248 - Spaten Dunkel (3 stars out of 5)

Brewed and bottled by Spaten Franziskaner-Brau, Munich, Germany.  Bought at HEB in Cinco Ranch and drunk at home in Katy while waiting for dinner to cook.

The breweries US web site is only a little out of date, with 2010 events in the what's new section, there is no information on Spaten Dunkel: http://spatenusa.com/3_products/3_1_prod_spectrum/index.htm nor is there information on Spaten Dukel on the German language web site.

This was a pleasant enough beer, dark in color with a nice head when poured.  The head dissipated quickly.  The beer has a slight caramel, chocolate flavor and there wasn't enough hoppiness to overcome the sweetness from the malt.  Nice to drink, a pleasant flavor and good drinkability, but not something to search out.
