Beer 368 - Pike Kilt Lifter (4 stars out of 5)

Product of the USA, family owned Seattle Brewing Co, the Pike Brewing Co, bought at HEB, Cinco Ranch, TX and drunk at home in Katy, TX while preparing dinner of smoked turkey sausage, red onion and green and red peppers and seasonings served with Penne pasta and tossed with Parmesan cheese.

The web site says: " Layers of rich, sweet, powerful earthy malt - like a freshly baked bread—makes Kilt Lifter great by itself or with food. A subtle underlying smokiness from the addition of a small amount of peated Scotch whisky malt adds complexity. Round and satisfying with light hop notes.
At the turn of the 20th century Edinburgh was famous for a dozen breweries that produced a strong and malty ale. There to this day, a Scotch is a style of beer, not a whisky! Because Scotland had no hops, they relied on Kent in England for their supply, so the style is more malty than hoppy. 6.5% ABV"

A very nice beer with a slightly sharp taste that made it interesting.  Nice flavor and good body.  A very pleasant drink.
