Beer 16 (revisited) - North Coast Brewing Scrimshaw Pilsner (3.5 stars out of 5)
Brewed and kegged by North Coast Brewing Co, Fort Brag, CA. Bought and drunk with lunch at the Esquire Tavern on the River Walk in San Antonio, TX. A pleasant bar with a limited amount of bar type food, the bar says it is the oldest bar on the River walk and the web site boasts of "boasts the longest wooden bar top in Texas - over 100 feet of beer-soaked wood rubbed smooth by the elbows of a zillion tipplers." The Bison burger I ate and the sirloin burger Patricia ate were both very good, though it was a little strange to have them both served with pickled cauliflower and pickled carrot in lieu of fries. This was primarily bought for Patricia while I drank beer 346, though as usual Patricia only drank half of the glass and I finished it for her.

The web site says: 'Named for the delicate engravings popularized by 19th century seafarers, Scrimshaw is a fresh tasting Pilsner brewed in the finest European tradition using Munich malt and, Hallertauer and Tettnang hops. Scrimshaw has a subtle hop character, a crisp, clean palate, and a dry finish."
This was primarily Patricia's beer during lunch and she liked it a lot with her sirloin burger. It was crisp and clean and lightly flavored and drank very well. I enjoyed it also, though I thought it was a little light in flavor to be really goo.
