Brewed in Fort Collins, CO bought and drunk at Barton's Steak and Seafood in Simi Valley, CA at dinner with Lisa and David as an aperitif while waiting for a delicious meal to be prepared.
New Belgium is wind powered and employee owned. The bottle says "Fat Tire Amber Ale's appeal is in it's feat of balance. Toasty, biscuit-like malt flavors coasting in equilibrium with hoppy freshness. Named in honor of jeff's mountain bike trip from brewery to brewery through Europe. Fat Tire is still crafted following the original home brew recipe that Jeff brainstormed on this cycling trip. Serve at 7 deg C, (45 deg F), alc 5.2% by vol. "
I took the empty bottle back to the hotel so I could transcribe what was written on the bottle and only then did I discover that the beer had a "best by" date of 21 May 2010. This may explain why I thought the beer was OK but nothing to write home about, so it is only fair that I try this beer again before the expiration date on the bottle. It also says something about my palate or possibly about the efficacy of the "drink by" date when it is obvious my taste buds wee not assaulted by this out- of-date beer. :-(
