Brewed and bottled in Brooklyn, NY. The Brooklyn Brewery, Brooklyn, NY. Bought at Randall's near the Galleria, Houston, TX on a whim and drunk at home in Katy, TX before and with dinner of Asian beef and Salisbury steak.
the brewery web site http://www.brooklynbrewery.com/beer/ has some very nice recipes for each of their beers. For this beer they suggest Pasta with Lobster, Chorizo and Peas. It sounds delicious, one to try this summer.
The bottle says "In Williamsberg, Brooklyn, we forge barley, malt and hops from Germany, aromatic sugar from Mauritius and yeast from Belgium into Brooklyn Local 1. Behind the golden color, find a dynamic complex of flavors, Belgian flair, Brooklyn fortitude, and a dusting of (our special) yeast. (To create this beer we use the old technique of) 100% bottle re-fermentation (a practice now rare in Europe. It gives this beer a palate of unusual depth). Enjoy it locally or globally, as an aperitiff or with your favorite dishes. 9.0% alc/vol" N.B. words in brackets are from the web site.
This is (was, since my glass is now empty) a delightful beer. Nice body, and a wonderful taste, that accompanied dinner very well. There is a very faint lingering bitterness in the aftertaste that could be memories of the delight that went before, if the flavors hadn't lingered quite so long. A beer to sip and to savor and to substitute for wine at the dinner table.
