Beer 174 - Michelob Light

Brewed and bottled by Anheuser Busch InBev, probably at the brewery in Houston, TX.  Bought and drunk at Fuddruckers Hamburgers in Katy, TX after picking up the van from it's second state inspection.

Second state inspection that is within a month.  You see, there are two stickers on the bottom left of windscreen of most cars in Texas.  One is for the state inspection and the other is for the state vehicle licence fee.  We received the new licence from the state for 2011 in the mail on Saturday so I went out to the van and scraped the old licence sticker off the windscreen so we could put the new one in it's rightful place.  Only after all vestiges of the old sticker had been removed from the windshield did we discover that I had actually scraped away the wrong sticker and we were now without proof of state inspection - but we did have two Texas stickers, one for 2010 licence fees and the other for 2011 licence fees.  Duh.  The dealer who carried out the first state inspection could not (would not) replace the sticker, so we had to get the van reinspected today.  And the Honda dealer is a stone's throw from Fuddruckers at the Katy outlet mall.

I like Fuddrucker's hamburgers and the unlimited melted cheese you can lather on the hamburgers and the fries.  Unfortunately they have a rather limited selection of beer. Normally this isn't a problem as they have Shiner Bock, but I decided to take one for the team tonight and in the interests of completeness and covering all the beers available I bought a Michelob Light.

the web site is: http://www.michelob.com/default.aspx An interesting web site with lots of good information about food pairings, glasses and brewing in general and Michelob beers in particular.

The bottle says "American style light lager brewed with a blend of Hallertau, Strissel, Spake and other hop varieties . Our full flavored light lager features a malty sweetness and aromatic hop profile. It's rich taste and sessionability are the signatures of this award winning light lager."  I have no idea what sessionability is, so I searched on yahoo and came up withe following at http://zythophile.wordpress.com/2009/10/27/the-mystery-of-sessionability/ "... “sessionability”, the indefinable something which keeps bringing the drinker back throughout the evening to refill their glass from the same fount ..." So now that I know, I must admit that Michelob Light is not a sessionable beer.

In some ways sessionability and drinkability can be equated and while this beer was drunk because I needed something to wash down the hamburger, fries and cheese, it is not one I will ever come back to willingly.  It was watery and had a slight metallic taste.  There was little flavor that I could discern to tell me it was a beer.  More like badly flavored water.
