Beer 163 - George Killian's Irish Red

Wikipedia says "George Killian's Irish Red is a beer with an Irish heritage, based on a recipe created at Lett's Brewery in Enniscorthy, Ireland, in 1864. The beer is named after George Killian Lett, the great-grandson of George Henry Lett, who founded the brewery in Enniscorthy.[1] It was originally an Irish red ale called "Enniscorthy Ruby Ale," and brewed from 1864 to 1956, when the brewery closed and it was discontinued. It is no longer sold in Ireland.[2] The brand name "George Killian" was purchased by the Pelforth Brewery in France. In the mid 1980's Coors bought the rights to use the brand name "Killian's Irish Red" in America. While the name is most often associated with a 4.9% abv amber lager which had become very popular, it was originally marketed by Coors as an ale." The bottle says the beer is brewed by UniBev Ltd in Golden, CO.  I bought and drank mine at the Spaghetti Warehouse in Houston, TX, where we went for dinner before going to see A Christmas Carol at The Alley Theater in Houston.

The web site: http://georgekillians.com/ is a pleasant diversion and good advertising but it doesn't say anything substantial about the beer.

Wikipedia again: "George Killian's derives its color and taste from a special caramel malted barley that is roasted at a high temperature longer and more slowly than most malts. There are no coloring agents or artificial additives used in the brewing process"

I enjoyed the beer with my manicotti.  It had enough flavor and taste to nicely add to the rather bland flavor of the two sauces that were poured over the manicotti.  On this visit to the Spaghetti warehouse I was disappointed with the lackadaisical attitude when we arrived and the quality and taste of the food.  The server tried to make up with good service, but we won't be back for a long time.
