Beer 394 - Sierra Nevada 2011 Summerfest (3.5 stars out of 5)

Brewed and bottled by Sierra Nevada Brewing Co, Chico, CA. Bought at HEB in Cinco Ranch and drunk at home in Katy, TX while working on the household expenditures for July.

The web site says “Our Summerfest® is a refreshing, pilsner-style lager. Its incredible smoothness comes from an extra-long lagering period. Lighter in body than our ales but just as complex in character, Summerfest® quenches your thirst with big aroma and a tangy hop bite. 5% ABV”

I enjoyed this beer, it was light and refreshing and a pleasure to drink, but there was a slight aftertaste that detracted a little from the cleanness.

The 1.459 people who have rated this beer at RateBeer.com were not really happy with this beer, though they do not seem to like lager beers a lot generally.  (http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/sierra-nevada-summerfest/369/  They gave it an average score 0f 3.01 which puts it in the 47th  percentile overall and the 90th percentile for its style of Premium Lager.

1,303 reviewers have posted notes at BeerAdvocate.com (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/140/3558  ) and overall they score it with an average of 3.69 which gives it a B = Good overall.
