Beer 316 - Dixie Blackened Voodoo Lager

Originally drunk on May 8th, 2011 and given 3.5 stars out of 5

Retried on September 5th, 2011 as one of the bottles very kindly given to me by my friend and colleague, Angela and there is no reason to change the rating of 3.5 out of 5. Even though this time my stomach is in much better shape and I enjoyed the beer while preparing roast turkey breast for dinner.

Brewed and bottled by Joseph Huber Brewing Co, Monroe, WI for Dixie Brewing Co, New Orleans, LA. Bought at HEB Cinco Ranch and drunk at home as a test to see if my stomach and gut could stand up to beer without staying or getting more upset. It couldn't. Though I enjoyed the beer, it did not help the GERD, so this will be the last beer posting for a while, until the pills the doc gave me start to have a serious effect.

In May I wrote the following which still (in September) appears to be the situation.  Wikepedia reports "In 2005, the Dixie Brewery was severely damaged when Mid-City New Orleans flooded from the levee failure disaster during Hurricane Katrina. After the area was dewatered the brewery complex was looted with much of the equipment stolen. Despite early claims that the brewery would be restored, it remains off line as of December 2010 and the future of the facilities is uncertain. The brand remains in business, brewed under contract by breweries elsewhere."

A great pity, I like Dixie beer and like it's marketing. Is there anybody interested in raising a couple of million $ to restore the brewery?
