Beer 277 - Tennent's Lager (2.5 stars out of 5)

Brewed and kegged at the Wellpark Brewery, Glasgow, Scotland by The C & C Group (from Ireland) who bought Tennents from Anheuser Busch In Bev in 2009.  Bought at Tony Roma's restaurant at the Livingston Town Center while having lunch with Nicola, Stephen and Austin and Patricia.  Our last meal on this trip with them before we head south to pick up Mum at Pat and Colin's house and then to Mum's house so we can be prepared for Mother's day tomorrow.  I drank my beer with a blue cheese and bacon hamburger and chips, strong blue cheese and lean Scottish bacon combined with Aberdeen Angus beef, made for an excellent burger.

The beer has been described as "a distinctive, well-balanced lager whose sweet, malty flavours combine with a tangy hoppiness to create its crisp, refreshing character"  The glass containing the beer at Tony Roma's was inscribed "Our dedicated brewers  at the wellpark brewery use the water of Loch Katrine, hops and barley to bring you a pint with a crisp taste and refreshingly clean finish."

This was the first really cold beer I had been served in Scotland since draught bitter beer is normally served at cellar temperature of 55 - 58 degrees F.  Unfortunately the beer was crisp because of the cold, but not very clean on the first drinking, there was a slight "off" taste in the initial taste and the aftertaste was not as clean as I expected.  The coldness masked the off flavors for a short time, but they became apparent as the beer warmed in the glass.
