Beer 276 - Caledonian 80 shilling ale (4 stars out of 5)

Brewed and kegged by the Caledonian Brewery, Edinburgh, Scotland.  Bought and drunk at the Rose Street Brewery pub and restaurant on Rose Street, Edinburgh when Patricia and I stopped for dinner after spending the late afternoon walking Princess Street and Rose Street and taking photographs of the castle and the sights in this part of Edinburgh.  We took the train from Bathgate, after Nicola and Stephen left for a friend's wedding, so we could spend a few hours exploring Edinburgh.

The brewery web site: http://www.caledonian-brewery.co.uk/

The web site says "A traditional Scottish, award winning beer which is as likely to impress you as it has the judges. Caledonian 80/- is a russet brown coloured beer, creamy and fruity with a late hoppy finish. Strongly delivers the Caledonian Brewery tradition: quality ingredients brewed in unique direct fired open coppers."
A very nice beer, nice body and good taste.  Went very well with the steak pie and chips I ate for dinner.  Nice aftertaste, in all very pleasant to drink.
