Beer 272 - J.W.Lees Bitter (4 stars out of 5)

Brewed and kegged by the J.W. Lees brewery (affectionately known in the north of England as John Willies) in Middleton, Manchester, England.  Bought and drunk at the Three Crowns pub and restaurant in Scouthead on the Yorkshire moors in North Central England.  We were at the restaurant with my cousins Pat and John and their respective spouses Colin and Kath and our two Mums.  The picture shows Mum and Auntie Beat as well as the beer.

The brewery web site: http://www.jwlees.co.uk/

The web site says: "Our most popular and famous beer. JW Lees Bitter is an all-malt brew and sets the
standard for Northern ales. One of the CAMRA guidebooks described it as an 'amber beer with malty and citrus fruit aftertaste'. They approved and we hope you do too. First brewed in 1928.  ABV 4.0%"  The beer was served in a pint glass that had been shaped for holding with an indentation for a thumb on one side and indentations for four fingers on the other side.
A very nice beer that went very well with the Cumberland sausage and mushroom sauce I ate for my main course.
