Beer 263 - Rogue American Amber Ale (3.5 stars out of 5)

Brewed and bottled by Oregon Brewing Co, Newport, OR.  Bought at HEB in Cinco Ranch and drunk at home after a hectic evening getting last minute things done before our trip to the UK on Friday.  All went well until the last stop at Walgreens.  We had dropped a prescription off to be refilled and were told to come back on Wednesday because the insurance would not pay until then because the requisite 30 days from the last prescription was not up until then.  But when we got to Walgreens they told us the prescription had been put back on the shelf because we had not collected it in time.  After a short discussion Walgreens agreed to refill the prescription but it would take then 15 minutes.  Over 40 minutes later we finally got our prescription.  Now we are almost ready to leave on Friday.  Watch this blog for interesting news about our travels to see Mum and baby Austin in the UK starting on Saturday morning.

The brewery web site: http://rogue.com/beers/american-amber.php

The web site says: "Tasting Notes: Tawny in color, with a coffee aroma, tight head and a delicate roasted malt accent. Generous use of hops and a smooth finish."

I agree on the smooth finish and nice malt accent, but there was no coffee aroma in my beer.  The taste was full bodied and easy to drink with a nice hint of crispness - I hesitate to call it bitterness, because it wasn't bitter, just crisp with flavor, like a radish is crisp with flavor, whereas a celery stick is just crisp and bland -  in the background.  Pleasant and enjoyable.
