Beer 67 - Coronada Brewing Mermaids Red Ale
September 19, 2010 - Beers 67
Coronado Brewing Company, Coronado, CA
While in San Diego we visited Coronado and then couldn't pass up the opportunity to visit the brewery, bar and restaurant of the Coronado Brewing Co where Patricia and I sat at the bar and shared a "flight" of the seven Coronado beers available on this Sunday afternoon.
Each of the beers was served in a 5 oz glass and we ate artichoke and spinach dip as we tasted the 7 beers. Here are notes from the menu, along with our tasting notes.
67. Mermaids Red Ale: A balanced medium bodied beer, red in color and very flavorful. It's well hopped to balance the malty sweetness and dry hopped with Cascade hops for an addded kick and hop flavor. (5.7% ABV)
The beer was too bitter for Patricia 's taste, though I quite liked the bitterness. A disappointing finish with an aftertaste that remained sharp.
