Beer 64 - Deschutes Black Butte Porter

September 18, 2010 - Beer 64
Black Butte Porter
Brewed by Deschutes Brewery, Bend OR. Bought and drunk at RELM (Relax, Enjoy, Laugh More) Wine and Beer Bistro, Carlsbad CA 92008 after an interesting day visiting the museum and tar pits at La Brea, the Scorpion Russian submarine in Long Beach and then driving down the coast road to Carlsbad.
The bottle says "Towering above central Oregon, jutting into clear blue skies, Black Butte can be seen for miles. From it's base flows the legendary Metolius rive- with it's source hidden deep beneath ancient lava flows.
Dark and distinctive like Black Butte itself, Black Butte Potter uses chocalate and crystal malts crafting a rich approachable porter. Settled on the banks of the wild and scenic Deschutes river, Deschutes Brewery's handcrafted ales are naturally made with pristine water from the cascae mountains. A fine layer of yeast in each bottle is a rault of the Kraeusening process creating natural carbonation and distinct flavor."
I really enjoyed the taste of this beer. Patricia detected the coffee flavor, I enjoyed the roundness and full flavor that was perfect to slake my thirst and tickle my tadtebuds after a couple of hours driving.
