Beer 24 - River Trent Brewing Fat Weasel Pale Ale

Brewed in Ukiah, CA bought at Trader Joe's in Thousand Oaks, CA drank at the hotel while talking to Patricia.
An inexpensive single beer at Trader Joe's, and I guess you get what you pay for. Gold color when poured into the glass with a head that dissipates quickly. Slightly bitter taste that could do with a lot more body, finish and aftertaste are slightly bitter but not unsatisfying. A very acceptable beer for less than $1 a bottle as long as you accept it for what it is, an imitation pale ale for quenching your thirst.

It is interesting that there does not appear to be easily accessible information on the web for the River Trent Brewing Co. One beer site thinks the beer is brewed by Mendocino Brewing Co, Another believes it is a sister brew to Fat Weasel Ale brewed perhaps by Firestone Walker for the Trader Joe's label Steinhaus Brewing. The name is obviously a play on words for the River Trent in England, home to many excellent breweries.

WTF? anyway... thats how i found this web site, wanted to complain to trent brwing co. How can a beer - same name, same lable, bought at same store, taste so different?
Now I can't even find out who the hell makes it? hmmm ... think I'll go talk to Joe maybe he can give me the skinny and my $$$ back! OMG, wow the bottles are even a shade different in color.

  3. I've been buying Fat Weasel at TJ's in RSM for about a year now. $5.99 per 6 pack. Has been consistently good. I always check the dates and try to find the freshest since it's stored on the shelf. Anyway, I think it's a great buy. Reminds me of a good Bock.
