Brewed and bottled by the Abita Brewing Co, Abita Springs, LA. This is the second of the three beers we picked up at the Walmart store in Lake Charles while visiting David. This one was drunk at home in Katy while preparing dinner of nutrisystems macaroni and cheese with additional cauliflower, carrots and mushrooms, all steamed.
The web site is the same: http://abita.com/brews/turbodog.php
The we site and the bottle say "Abita's Turbodog is a dark brown ale brewed with a combination of pale, crystal and chocolate malts, dry hopped with Willamette hops and fermented using unique German alt yeast. Each batch is hand-crafted using the pristine artesian waters of Abita springs, Louisiana. This combination gives Turbodog its rich body and color and a sweet chocolate toffee-like flavor. Guided by our principle of "quality before quantity" Turbo dog is cold filtered and brewed in small batches using no additives or preservatives. Like all of our beers, Turbodog is prepared with the attention to detail upon which we have built our reputation as one of the country's finest breweries. Turbodog began as a specialty ale but has gained a huge loyal following and has become one of our flagship brews.
This ale pairs well with most meats and is great served with hamburgers or sausages. It is a good match with smoked fish and can even stand up to wild game dishes. Turbodog is also great for marinating and braising meats and cooking such things as cabbage and greens. Colby, Gloucester, Cheddar and Blue cheeses go nicely with Turbodog. It’s perfect with spicy Louisiana jambalaya or Spanish paella. Some even like it paired with chocolate! ABV 5.6%"
Turbodog was pleasant enough to drink but the best that can be said about it was that it is inoffensive. The flavors were mild, it had a nice body and was easy to drink. It was smooth going down but there was nothing in the aftertaste that left a memory on my admittedly jaded palette.
