Beer 155 - Live Oak Big Bark Amber Lager

Brewed in Austin, TX by the Live Oak Brewing Company, bought and drunk on draft at Players Hamburgers and Beer, Austin, TX on a road trip to drive Sofia home after end of term exams.  Players is a cafeteria type hamburger place, where the hamburgers are not so great, but the fries are hot and the guys behind the counter cooking the burgers and fries and friendly and happy.

The web site says: ""Smooth" is the first word from your mouth after a taste of Big Bark Amber. This Vienna-style lager has a reddish-amber color with a smooth, malty flavor and low hop bitterness. It is made from Czech and German malts and German hops. "All Bark, No Bite." Everyone likes this beer."

There was really nothing to help this beer stand out amongst the many other offerings in this class.  The beer was pleasant enough but basically nothing more than fizzy, cold amber colored liquid that refreshed without satisfying.

  1. I have to disagree with you strongly there, pal! I found this beer to be fantastic. I'm a big fan of reds and ambers, and this is maybe the best one I've had! Refreshing but also delicious and just the right amount of bitter! You can see what else I wrote about it over at Barley Buddy if'n you're innerested! http://www.barleybuddy.com/89837_By_Region/89491_American/448179_Big_Bark_Amber_Lager
