Cristal

September 13, 2010

Score 2 stars out of 5

Brewed and bottled by Union de Cervecerias Peruanas Backus Y Johnston AAA, Lima, Peru.   Bought at Fiesta Grocery in Katy, TX and drink at home in Katy, TX as an aperitif while preparing dinner of red beans and rice with turkey smoked sausage.

web site (in Spanish):   http://www.cristal.com.pe/

The web site says “Brewed since 1921, Cristal is Peru’s No. 1 selling beer, combining a light-bodied liquid with strong Andean imagery. It has been the No. 1 selling U.S. import from South America over the last eight years, primarily appealing to the approximately one million Peruvian consumers in the U.S.” The brewery and the brand are owned by SAB Miller.

The beer was light, easy to drink and quite lacking in flavor.  Almost like drinking lightly flavored water, there were no bad flavors, just a lack of any real flavor
