Beer 397 - Chimay Cinq Cents

Graham's Score 4.8 stars out of 5

Brewed and bottled by Chimay Abbey Belgium at Notre-Dame de Scourmont Abbey

Bought at Specs on Fry Road as a treat for Saturday night and drunk at home in Katy, TX while preparing and eating dinner of Turkey burgers with cheese, tomato and spinach, served with booked potatoes, bisto gravy and red cabbage. And so a question for further research is to find out why steamed red cabbage turns the steaming water green

The web site says “The Chimay Triple, last-born of the Abbey, is labelled "Cinq Cents" on the 750 ml bottle. Of a golden colour, the Trappist beer combines sweet and bitter in a rare balance. The beer's aroma felt in the mouth comes from the hops' perfumes: above all, they are fruity touches of Muscat grapes and raisins, even ripe apples. This traditional Belgian beer is best savoured fresh at a temperature of from 6 to 8°C. 8% ABV

A delightful beer that was a pleasure to drink.  The only, very slight criticism is that it was not quite balanced on the first taste,

The 2,122 reviewers at RateBeer.com almost agreed with me.  They gave it an average score of 3.81 (http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/chimay-triple--blanche-white--cinq-cents/52/ ) which puts it in the 99th percentile overall and in the 99th percentile in its class of Abbey Tripel.

The 1,308 reviewers at BeerAdvocate.com gave the beer an average score of 4.08 which rated it as an A- = Excellent (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/215/1346 )
