Beer 264 - Pyramid Outburst Imperial I.P.A. (2.5 stars out of 5)

Pyramid Brewing Co, Seattle, WA, Berkeley, CA, Portland, OR.  Bought at HEB in Cinco Ranch, TX and drunk at home in Katy, TX.

the web site: http://www.pyramidbrew.com/our-brews/outburst

The web site says: "With big beer taste and massive hop flavor, Outburst lights spring's fuse. Dry-hopped for an extra rejuvenating rush, this imperial IPA causes a thirst-quenching commotion wherever it's poured. Ignite the season with a bang. 8.5% Alc by volume."

Not so good, too hoppy and bitter.  Massive hop flavor is not my idea of a nice flavorful beer.  Hops are great, but in moderation.  There are many examples of a happy medium, perhaps what I am looking for is a premier grand cru classe of beers. A beer that has depth of character, full flavor, and lingering taste that excites the palate.  A hop heavy bitter beer does not live up to this dream requirement.
