Brewed in Boston, MA and drunk on draft in a glass with a Harpoon IPA logo, at the Bocca Rossa Italian eatery in the same building as the Residence Inn where Elaine and I were staying. We were going to walk 2 blocks to another pub but decided it was too cold as well as a waste of time so we ate Italian food at a high table next to the window.
The brewery web site is: http://www.harpoonbrewery.com/index.cfm?pid=28507
The web site says "The high hopping of Harpoon IPA is not only noticeable in the nose but especially in the finish. The lingering bitter finish of this beer is not harsh or astringent, but crisp and pronounced. This is created, in part, by dry hopping – a technique that involves adding fresh hops to the conditioning beer to provide a fresh hop aroma.
This beer is floral, medium body with an aggressive, clean hop finish. 5.9% ABV."
I found the beer to be nicely flavored and a good body, but not quite balanced. The hop bitterness is noticeable at first, though it does not linger long in the aftertaste. The IPA went well with the sweet Italian sausage and linguini, though it would probably have done better with a spicier dish.
