Brewed and bottled by Cerveceria Modelo, Mexico City, Mexico. Bought by Rigo at his local Mexican restaurant in SW Houston and drunk at home in Katy, TX on the first day of my summer (because this is the first day it has been warm enough for me to wear shorts all day). This was a mid afternoon reward for fixing a water guzzling toilet, installing a new arm on the shower head, pruning the roses, planting four tomato plants and installing cages ready for the plants growth as well as taking Polo to the vet to get a certificate that will let her travel back to Nicola in Scotland.
Victoria is Mexico's oldest beer, but it only came to the US in 2010 when Modelo introduced it to Chicago. Since then it has been introduced in a dozen more cities with large Mexican populations around the US including Houston.
The web site: http://www.gmodelo.com/index-2_en.asp?go=victoria
The web site says "The brand that most reflects the Mexican tradition of Grupo Modelo is a Vienna style beer whose roots are closely linked to the history of Mexico. Victoria has the delicate aroma of the highest quality malt and hops that is well balanced with its unique amber color and its bright and refreshing creamy foam that tops its transparent and bright appearance. 4.0% alc/vol"
I sometimes wonder whether or not the web designers and writers have ever drunk the beer they describe. Or perhaps they have drunk the beer and can't find anything really nice to say about the taste. This beer was an OK every day beer that was pleasant on a warm spring day. There was however, something not quite right in the balance that allowed the hop bitterness to intrude when it shouldn't, just enough to mar complete enjoyment.
